Greg Timmer

Greg Timmer MainHome Town: Jensen Beach on Florida's Treasure Coast.

Favorite Ocean Kayak and why: All time favorite- Prowler 13, I've owned two and feel that the P13 offers the best of all worlds- speed, maneuverability, stability & price. I also have a Trident Ultra 4.7, which I'm finding to be a great boat for the long paddle and it offers all I could wish for in a inshore and offshore fishing platform. Soon to have a Trident 13 Angler in the stable for those quick runs to the Indian River Lagoon.

Other gear used:
Carlise Paddles, Extrasport PFDs, Engle Coolers, Plano Tackle Boxes, YakAttack Products, Penn Reels, St. Croix Rods, Ripetide/Culprit Lures, Kayak Gear from HOOK1, Malone Kayak Products, Clothing from Columbia and Humminbird Electronics.

About Greg: Greg Timmer, AKA- Lt.FireDog. Born and breed in Western Michigan and summering in Holland, at the family's cottage on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, Greg was taught freshwater fishing by his grandfather and fly fishing by his stepfather on the many inland lakes and rivers of the “Great Lakes State”. After college, Greg was recruited by a South Florida Fire Department and in 1987, entered his career in the Fire Service… and once again found himself in a fishing mecca.

Fishing saltwater from Jacksonville to the Keys, from an assortment of boats (flats to offshore), Greg eventually developed his love for fishing the Indian River Lagoon which has been called the “most biologically diverse estuary on earth”, yet he longed to get to those elusive prey that were just out of casting distance in the shallows, and that’s where kayaks came into the picture.

Since then, the transition from power boats to paddle-craft is complete, freshwater is being pursued again and kayak fishing is his joy which he Greg Timmer Secondshares with his family & friends.
